Planning a N. GA Wedding

One of the things I have come to realize is that there is no such thing as a typical wedding. No matter what guidelines you might follow, your wedding will be uniquely yours. Yes, there are traditions you can follow but every couple is unique as will be their wedding. This is really as it should be. A very important thing to remember is that not only are you planning a special day but all the events and preparations leading up to your wedding day will be a very memorable part of your lives. So relax and enjoy doing it. This is, after all, a labor of Love. With our economy the way it is, many couples are looking for ways to create a beautiful, memorable and fun wedding for a reasonable amount of money.  This is really not as difficult as it may sound.  I have provided a basic list below of some of the many things you will want to address in planning your wedding.  Please keep checking my website as I will continue to address many of the items below and I will add additional tips in planning a North Georgia Wedding. Basic To Do List in Planning a Wedding
  • Decide on a date. Be somewhat flexible as your date may wind up changing due to many variables.
  • Select an officiant. See my section on selecting an officiant.
  • Determine a budget. If this is your first wedding and parents are assisting in paying for the wedding, make sure you know their budgets as well.
  • Pick a honeymoon destination (renew passports & inoculations if necessary)
  • Select and work with a Caterer
  • Pick out wedding dress and bridal party dresses
  • Put together the guest list.
  • Order or make your own invitations & announcements.
  • Select and reserve a wedding and reception site
  • Make arrangements for any rental equipment you might need
  • Choose a florist
  • Select Grooms and groomsmen attire.
  • Select a Photographer
  • Select the music, DJ, etc.
  • Order wedding cake.
  • Arrange transportation for the bridal party to & from ceremony/reception.
  • Plan the rehearsal dinner.
  • Select attendants' gifts, grooms gifts, etc.
  • Choose wedding bands.
  • Make room reservations for out of town guests.
  • Get the Marriage license. Georgia requires you have a license from the county where you are getting married if you are not a GA resident. It is very easy to get and there is no waiting period.
  • Plan on where to have hair appointments

  • Your wonderful wedding can be much less stressful if you hire a wedding planner to help you with all the details.

  • Thank you for responding to my article. I will add the use of a wedding planner to it as I believe you are correct in your comment. The couples that I married that used a wedding planner were considerably more organized and less stressed. If you were more local to my area I would actually feature your business. I am getting ready to feature different businesses in my area that cater to the wedding venues.
